January, 1992 - Too Thin?

Whenever I watch TV and see those poor starving kids all over the world, I can't help but cry. I mean I'd love to be skinny like that but not with all those flies and death and stuff. - Mariah Carey, pop singer

February, 1992 - Safe streets.

The streets are safe in Philadelphia. It's only the people who make them unsafe. - Frank Rizzo, ex-police chief and mayor of Philadelphia.

March, 1992 - Evolution choice.

If man evolved from monkeys and apes, why do we still have monkeys and apes? Did they make the better choice by staying on the sidelines of the human race?

April, 1992 - New VSysop.

The IFX Group has just released a brand new version of the smash hit Virtual Sysop simulation game. This version brings a whole new depth to the realistic game play and entertainment. Hidden inside are some Easter eggs including a totally new game. Can you find it?

May, 1992 - More netmail.

Our netmail section has been expanded. We have also added a list of all netmail channels available in the mail section. If you see a channel you would like us to pick up, please ask.

June, 1992 - Thank you Chester Beebe.

We would like to publicly thank IFX Group member, Chester Beebe, for his contributions in testing the new Virtual Sysop version. His input has been invaluable and has allowed us to move forward much faster than expected. He has tirelessly invested his time to help wring out bugs and suggested improvements that have everyone enjoying the benefits. Check out the latest update in our entertainment section.

July, 1992 - Dealing with stress.

STRESSED spelled backwards is DESSERTS. Which way are you looking at your stress?

August, 1992 - Travel Plans.

Always taking the path of least resistance makes both rivers and people more crooked than they started. Knowing your goals is only half the battle. Knowing the most direct path to reach those goals is a significant step in the right direction. What are you fighting to accomplish and how do you plan to get there?

September, 1992 - Check out the new G&B.

The Gnorfs & Blats simulation is now back online. It has taken almost a full year to realize an entertainment that truly scares system operators that see it for the first time. The fright comes from the realistic simulation of a hacker's back door into your BBS. Yes, you can now sit there and watch your users attempt to hack into your TBBS system using tricks they have learned from hacking other systems. We all know that it is impossible to hack a TBBS system, so this software is classed as entertainment, but some sysops view it more as a way to tell how dangerous a user might be given the chance. This game can simulate a very convincing DOS prompt with a virtual hard drive populated with all kinds of fun sounding files, or it can be set to simulate a UNIX system with much less access and more cryptic file names. Either way, you get to record everything your user does if you want. If you hide the menu option, users can't tell it is a simulation. This simulation is so complete that changes made inside the simulation by a user on one line will be instantly seen by users inside the simulation on another line. They can't tell it isn't real unless you tell them. Try it out for yourself in our entertainment section.

October, 1992 - Too Reality?

It is clear that the talented people behind the scenes at the IFX Group have gone too far by making their simulation software too realistic. Please note that the Gnorfs & Blats option on the entertainment menu is a simulation game! There is no need to report this as a security problem anymore. We do sincerely thank those concerned members that have taken the time to keep us safe, but this is just a weird and twisted way some people like to pass the time. Check out last months news for more information about this ground breaking entertainment.

November, 1992 - More Games.

The IFX Group has a new crop of online games this month to help round out our selection so we are not just offering simulation games. This brings old favorites with a multi-player twist like tick-tac-toe-chat, poker table, black-jack and checkers. We are also working on a two to four player version of the popular Pente board game. All of these games allow real time chatting between players at the same game table, with the ability for each player to start new tables and invite their friends to play. Some of the games do have a single player mode, but these first versions are rather boring until they learn your style. The more you play, the more they learn, and the better they will play. Give it a try and see for yourself.

December, 1992 - Copyright notice.

The online Pente game has been removed from our selection by request. Until we can find a way to avoid bringing any legal problems from the owner of the game name and copyright, we will be offering different board games with fewer corporate legal issues. Anyone care for a snappy game of checkers?
